In year 2 the children have been learning how to maniplate clay using their hands and tools. Keep an eye out for our pinch pots which will be coming soon!

Hawks and Herons classes both participated in Sports Leadership training at the end of last week.  We were very lucky and had Mr Alker from Bedford Borough School Sport Partnership come in on Thursday and Friday to teach the children how to be effective leaders and coaches.  The children will now have opportunities to use these skills when working with the younger year groups throughout their time in year 5 and also in year 6.

Year 4 made Gas Masks and name labels this week, as part of our World War 2 topic, we are looking at what it was like for children during World War 2. In particular focusing on children who had to be evacuated during the war. 

Penguins have settled in brilliantly to Reception and have really enjoyed exploring the provision. They are making lots of new friends and learning how to follow the routines of the day. 

We are very proud of how they have started school! 

Woodpeckers have had a wonderful and busy start to the school year. They have been using manipulatives to help them talk about and understand place value, learning to introduce themselves in Spanish and have also had their first 'toot' lesson of the term.

The youngest children have settled into school very well. They are making friends and having lots of fun.

Year 6 have made a fabulous start to this year's first Art topic (Make My Voice Hard): researching Mexican artist Diego Rivera and sharing knowledge of Mayan Culture from Year 5. Pupils also began working on their sketch pages and just look at some of the exceptional detail that they included...impressive or what?! They gathered various items: including cotton buds, feathers, pompoms, lolly sticks and more, to experiment with expressive mark-making, using ink. It was a fun-packed lesson and taught us all a lot! :)

Year 4 enjoyed making pizza in class on Tuesday. 

Over the last two weeks, Swifts and Swallows have been getting their art ready for the Livingstone art exhibition in the school hall!  The children have worked hard choosing their materials, matching colours and glueing create beautiful pictures of trees.

They are all very proud of their working and looking foward to showing off in front of the rest of the school later this week.

Penguins enjoyed lots of 'seaside' activities for Livingstone by the Sea. Even though it was a little too chilly for swimming, we still enjoyed playing in paddling pools full of balls and paper! We also played in the sand, enjoyed 'hook a duck', created our own puppet shows, made our own bracelets, did some 'sand' art work...and the crazy golf was a big hit! 

We also enjoyed some delicious food including our fish and chip lunch and ice cream from the ice cream van! 

Year 6 have been studying the Ancient Greeks.  They have fully immersed themselves in the topic through whole class teaching, independent research and by exploring our non-fictions books.  Year 6 Kestrels made their own Power Points which they presented to the Year 5 Hawks.  It was wonderful to see them sharing their knowledge with such enthusiasm.  We finished the day with a whole quiz which Kestrels had created as part of their ICT lessons.  Thanks for sharing our learning with us Year 5 Hawks!

The Puffins have enjoyed an indoor beach day. They have played with shredded paper. Had a go at crazy golf and  hook a duck had fun in the pool pit.

Year 6 have a fantastic few weeks preparing for their Leavers' Assembly, taking photos to remember their friends and getting ready for Year Six Enterprise.  They have been reflecting on their journey and sending thank yous to all who have been a part of their time at Livingstone.  They have been visiting their secondary schools too!  Excitement and anticpation is growing!

Year 6 have been busy preparing their Enterprise.  Their aim is to make their £10 grow!  Amazing stalls and games have been created for you to all enjoy as part of Big Tea 2 on Wedensday 17^th July at 3:20pm.  Year 6 will split their profits between funding their Year 6 Leaver's Party and a charity of their choice.  Take a look at their advertising on the lower playground. Please come along and support us!  Bring small change (no cards accepted!)

Year 5 were lucky enough to attend the Biddenham STEAM (Science, Technology, Art, Maths) fair earlier this week. We walked down to Biddenham in time to have lunch in their canteen. After this, we split into groups to participate in various activites such as designing an electronic game and testing speed and strength. Finally, we went into the hall for a presentation where we won best project for our 'Blooming Flower'. We were thrilled to have won and we had a brilliant time joining in with different tasks - it really was great fun all round.

Year 4 had the opportunity to practice their Spanish recently in the Spanish Cafe, whilst also enjoying a range of treats.

Our last reading cafe of the year was attended by the most parents, grandparents and carers ever and we are so grateful for the support. The children really enjoyed having the opportunity to share and read stories both in our reading area and outside. Thank you to Mrs Lewis for organising everything and everyone who attended for making it such a succes. 

This week, we have started to learn about the seaside. The children have been keen to share their experiences and play in the role-play souvenir shop, deciding what they will need to take to the beach. 

Parrots have enjoyed learning about space! They have learnt all about the International Space Station, planets , and taken an imaginary journey through space on a rocket ship discovering planets, asteroids, all while looking for aliens!

The children have had great fun looking at patterns and designs from Ancient Egypt. They have sketched images and transferred them to painted backgrounds using pastels. All look fabulous and show how carefully the children have looked at the pictures presented to them.
